VIDEO: PHARRELL INTERVIEWS WITH HOT 97 (ANGIE MARTINEZ)
One of the most talented people that I’ve had the pleasure to work with in this Industry is PHARRELL WILLIAMS. I truly believe he’s a down-to-earth genius and I enjoy hearing his futuristic thoughts! Well, he recently sat down with New York radio station Hot 97 and he teased quite a few things, including new music from rapper JAY-Z, saying, “The Rain Man Is Back.”
Pharrell stated that he’d been collaborating with Jay on what we hope is his follow up to The Blueprint 3 (2009)! He went on to name a few other notable artists that he’s been working with: Beyonce, No Doubt, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Busta Rhymes, Jennifer Hudson, Daft Punk and Miley Cyrus.
“She can tell you everything about Waka Flocka,” Pharrell said of Cyrus. “She can tell you when Gucci Mane came out. Like she means it cause she grew up with it, she grew up listening to that with all her friends. Her day job was one thing, but hanging out with her friends – you saw some of the trouble she got into online, she was showing you the signs she was a different girl.”

He’s creating timeless music and that’s what Hip-Hop .. what MUSIC is all about .. at least it should be! KENDRICK LAMAR, BLACK HIPPY Sign with Aftermath & Interscope:
Hip-hop collective Black Hippy — comprised of Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock, and Ab-Soul — has reportedly signed a joint venture deal with Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records, Top Dawg Entertainment founder, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, told Fader. The move might not come as much of a surprise if you’ve been following Black Hippy for some time now. Rumors of an association with Aftermath founder, Dr. Dre, have been swiriling from the get-go.
Back in February, Kendrick and ScHoolboy talked to The Juice on their upcoming records, Q’s then-recently released “Habits & Contradictions,” as well as releasing music independently.
“The pros of being independent always have been to have that creative control,” Kendrick told The Juice, “not only with your music but how you go about putting it out. At the end of the day, me putting out that free music helped me to get where i’m at now. i don’t have the money to distribute my music out there—that’s really the con of being independent.”
