The Blueprint: GENO SMITH - Rookie With A Plan?

I’ve been following the story of Geno Smith every since the 2013 NFL Draft, that seems like it happened last year, but that’s another story. There was just a lot of hoopla about him not getting picked in the first round. Well, now he’s the New York Jet’s rookie quarterback and he’s on his road to adjusting to the Pro-Football life on and off the field.

The internets went nuts when people got word that the new sports agent Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter had a meeting with the rookie. You see, everyone was wondering if the mogul was about to sign Geno Smith, being that he no longer has representation. He fired his previous agents, Select Sports after a surprising fall in the 2013 NFL Draft. Like many others, I thought that Smith would get picked in the 1st round, but Nah. Geno spoke about his meeting with Jay Thursday afternoon at the Rookie Premiere in Los Angeles.

"Obviously he’s seen as a pop icon, but I’m not starstruck in those instances," Smith revealed. "We spent some time talking, and that was about it. It’s just about learning. I picked his brain. He’s a good guy."

Will he join Jay-Z’s Roc Nation? I guess we’ll have to wait and see. He still doesn’t have representation and it’s not his top priority to find one.

"There’s no rush to make a decision," Smith said. "I’ve interviewed some guys. I’ve got a lot of time. Right now, my main focus is everything I do inside that facility."

Well, okay. Read more at the source Sbnation.

TIM TEBOW the most influential athlete?
According to a survey released by Forbes.com on Monday he is. Tim Tebow was released by the New York Jets last week and is now a free agent, but he was selected America’s Most Influential Athlete, so his popularity hasn’t gone anywhere.
"Tebow had the most influence on fans, according to 29% of respondents, finishing ahead of Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps (25%), Jamaican track star Usain Bolt (23%) and Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter (22%).”
The results were gathered by using surveys from Nielsen and E-Poll Market Research to determine the winner. They also took their endorsement potential into account. So, who was the next-closet NFL player? That would be Peyton Manning!

Two of the most watched Quarterbacks, former teammates and Heisman Trophy winners: TIM TEBOW + CAM NEWTON cover the September issue of GQ Magazine!

Check out a few excerpts:

Tim Tebow on his words for Jets fans:

“I think if they’re a Jets fan, hopefully they’ll be rooting for me. I’ll do whatever I can to help this team win football games. I’ll give my heart and soul whenever I step on that field and even when I’m on the sidelines. And at the end of the day, that’s really all you can ask of someone.”

Cam Newton on being the backup to Tim Tebow in college:

“If I had said to Tim, ‘Man, can we spend some extra time to study the playbook?’ he would have done it. I didn’t take advantage of what was right in front of me. If I had, maybe his mentality would have hit me sooner. Basically, I was immature and unfocused. I would never, ever make that mistake again.”

ATLANTA FALCONS Reportedly Turn Down ‘Hard Knocks’:

The Atlanta Falcons have decided not to appear on the HBO show, “Hard Knocks,” ESPN reported while citing a league source.

The report said the Falcons had extensive discussions at all levels of the franchise about appearing on the show but declined because they want their sole focus to be on the field.

“Hard Knocks,” which requires excellent access from its featured choice, chronicles an NFL team’s journey through training camp and preseason.

HBO could now look at the New York Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars, who previously were under consideration and had shown interest. The Jets were extremely popular as the “Hard Knocks” team in 2010.

So, my diehard ‘followers’ know that I’m a sports chick & that I’ll lose my voice over a great game of football! I’ve watched ‘Hard Knocks’ since it first aired & although I particularly enjoy the behind the scenes look, I can see why the Falcons would decline participation. It could take away from the focus of practice & some players may be enticed by the ‘reality star’ aspect of it; at least the rookies! I’m not sure who I’d rather watch the Jets or the Jaguars; I guess we’ll have to wait and see! xo @RozOonTheGo
