Congrats to Mr. Nasir Jones! He’ll be honored at the 2nd annual Vibe Impact Awards. It’s a pre-Grammy Awards, invite-only gala that’ll be held in Los Angeles on January 24. NAS is a Grammy Award-nominated and multi-platinum rapper who’s apart of Hip-Hop’s Elite … I say, he’s well deserving of this honor!
“This year marks the 20th anniversary of Nas’ groundbreaking debut album “Illmatic,” which Vibe editor in chief Jermaine Hall describes in a statement as “arguably hip-hop’s most flawless piece of work. Nas’ ability to clearly capture his surroundings in song is a special talent.”

ROZ-O’S NOW PLAYING: HALFTIME - NAS
One of my FAVORITE Nas tracks! Nothing better than a true lyricist! NOTHING! Exactly why Biggie, Jigga & Nas will always top my favorites list! I was blessed to work this project during my days at Columbia Records/Sony Music and blessed to work with all 3 of my favorites on some level! Press play and enjoy the classic rap tunes!
Rest In Peace ill Will! xo ROZ-O! #illmatic
Shhhhhhhh …… don’t tell anyone that Mariah gave Nas a Louis Vuitton Cigar Humidor for his 40th Birthday! Cuban anyone? I kid, I kid!
NOW WATCHING: IF I RULED THE WORLD (IMAGINE THAT) - NAS
Classic Classic Classic!!! Did I say Classic? OK, so I just read some great news on Mr. Nasir Jones. The Ivy League school Harvard University announced that ‘the 39 year-old rapper is being honored with the Nasir Jones Hip-Hop Fellowship at its W.E.B. Du Bois Institute. It’s a joint venture with Harvard’s Hip-Hop Archive which was established in 2002.’ It supports growing reseach in Hip-Hop. Who knew? Hip-Hop + Harvard .. I like the sound of that!
Said fellowship will assist those students who excel in the arts “in connection with hip-hop. 'Life Is Good’ for the lyricist. I salute him and the institution.

NEW MUSIC: WORD IS BOND - JOEY BADA$$
I told you all the other day that this kid was finally on my radar! This song definitely helps. Dare I say it? This song reminds me of classic Nas records! Maybe it’s the production, maybe it’s his delivery, either way, I’m feeling it! You know what? It has a lot to do with it being produced by STATIK SELEKTAH!
Bada$$ is set to release his latest mixtape 'Summer Knights' on June 12th and he’ll release his debut album ‘BadA$$’ shortly after. I’m looking forward to both the album and the mixtape!
He’ll have a cool set-up and follow up for the album release since he’s on the 'Under The Influence' tour with Wiz Khalifa, A$AP Rocky, Trinidad James, B.O.B. and more! It kicks off July 17th! It’s going to be a HOT summer!

SO DOPE!: Street Artist Posts Rap Lyric Signs Around NYC
I stumbled upon this article on Mashable about a New York City based street artist Jason “Jay Shells” Shelowitz who’s started a new project titled“The Rap Quotes”. Apparently, he’s posting signs ‘featuring famous hip-hop lyrics at the exact locations mentioned in each song.” How cool is this?!
“I was listening to music at home, working and heard myself rapping along to Big L’s ‘Lifestylez Ov Da Poor and Dangerous’, which says ’ … on 139 and Lenox Ave. there’s a big park, and if you soft don’t go through it when it gets dark,’” he told Mashable.
“I just thought it would be cool to mark that location with the quote so passer-bys knew it was a part of New York’s hip hop history.”
Check out the full article and see signs that include lyrics from Jay-Z, Biggie Smalls, Mos Def, Nas, Kanye West, Busta Rhymes & more! I love my Hip-Hop culture & I salute anyone who embraces it and does creative things like this to express their love as well! xo @rozOonTheGo
THROW-BACK VIDEO OF THE DAY #2: MILSHAKE - KELIS
Simply because all my friends just told me that this is how I’m looking right now! My hair hasn’t been this naturally curly, thick or healthy since I was a pre-teen! I will NOT post a picture .. it’s temporary & not my ‘Brand’ look! It’s cute though & I’ll rock it for a few more days! Ha! Enjoy! xo @rozOonThego
