SO DOPE!: Street Artist Posts Rap Lyric Signs Around NYC
I stumbled upon this article on Mashable about a New York City based street artist Jason “Jay Shells” Shelowitz who’s started a new project titled“The Rap Quotes”. Apparently, he’s posting signs ‘featuring famous hip-hop lyrics at the exact locations mentioned in each song.” How cool is this?!
“I was listening to music at home, working and heard myself rapping along to Big L’s ‘Lifestylez Ov Da Poor and Dangerous’, which says ’ … on 139 and Lenox Ave. there’s a big park, and if you soft don’t go through it when it gets dark,’” he told Mashable.
“I just thought it would be cool to mark that location with the quote so passer-bys knew it was a part of New York’s hip hop history.”
Check out the full article and see signs that include lyrics from Jay-Z, Biggie Smalls, Mos Def, Nas, Kanye West, Busta Rhymes & more! I love my Hip-Hop culture & I salute anyone who embraces it and does creative things like this to express their love as well! xo @rozOonTheGo

THROW-BACK VIDEO OF THE DAY #2: MILSHAKE - KELIS

Simply because all my friends just told me that this is how I’m looking right now! My hair hasn’t been this naturally curly, thick or healthy since I was a pre-teen! I will NOT post a picture .. it’s temporary & not my ‘Brand’ look! It’s cute though & I’ll rock it for a few more days! Ha! Enjoy! xo @rozOonThego

VIDEO - THE TRUTH SERIES: WHO SHOULD WIN BEST RAP ALBUM GRAMMY?

You guys know I support RapRadar’s HNIC doses of #TheTruth so I had to pose the question to my followers; even if you don’t respond .. think about the question at hand. Elliott Wilson breaks down the GRAMMY ‘Best Rap Album’ category and gives his respected opinion, while concentrating heavily on DRAKE’S ‘Take Care’ and NAS’ ‘LIFE IS GOOD’.

Check out all the nominees below and let me know your ‘truth’:

“Take Care” - Drake

“Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album, Pt. 1” - Lupe Fiasco

“Undun” - The Roots

“God Forgives, I Don’t” - Rick Ross

“Based On A T.R.U. Story” - 2 Chainz

What’s my truth? Well, I’m torn between ‘Take Care’ and ‘Life Is Good’ and let’s just say I’d be highly upset if neither of these come home with the trophy. I congratulate them all, but that’s just ‘my truth’. The GRAMMY Awards air Sunday, February 10th @ 8PM EST on CBS live from the Staples Center in LA! I’ll either be tuned in or backstage working ;)! xo @RozOonTheGo

MEEK MILL: Dreams + Nightmares

In expectation of the highly-anticipated debut album from MMG rapper MEEK MILL Billboard recently posted a cool article and I’m sharing it with you guys belooow! You can expect to get more exclusive articles & interviews like this from myself once the official blog launches this Spring 2013; for now just enjoy reposts sprinkled with my lovely commentary! xo @RozOonTheGo

——-

On Oct. 10, a few more-than-notable guests stopped by a listening party for Meek Mill’s “Dreams & Nightmares” at New York’s Electric Lady Studios. Jay-Z and Will Smith poked their heads into the private event before the Maybach Music Group rapper previewed his album for a small crowd. By the end of the evening, producer/singer The-Dream, Philadelphia Eagles wideout DeSean Jackson, labelmate Wale and Maybach head Rick Ross had all shown up to support the 25-year-old MC. “He’s earned this himself,” Ross told the crowd. “I’m just proud of the homey.”

“Dreams & Nightmares,” due Oct. 30 on Maybach/Warner Bros. Records, is only Mill’s studio debut. But the star-studded event demonstrated the buzz he already has. “Any time you see your work being recognized by some of the greatest in the game, it feels good,” says Mill, born Robert Williams. “It serves as motivation.”
