GARY CLARK JR. Launches Maverick Music Festival in Texas!

I think this is pretty AWESOME

According to Rolling Stone ‘the Texas bluesman is launching his own music festival in his home state. Maverick Music Festival is set for March 23rd in San Antonio.’ I think it’s amazing that he’s launched something that could essentially be an annual event and opportunity for local musicians to perform! This event will feature performances by Gary himself, the Toadies, Girl in a Coma, Arum Rae and Henry and the Invisibles. There will also be free daytime events! Cool right? If you’re interested in buying tickets for the nighttime show they’re available at the festival’s website. xo @rozOonTheGo

DRAKE Announces 2012 OVO Fest Lineup:

For the third straight year, Drake is bringing a hip collection of hip-hop artists to his hometown OVO Fest, set to invade Toronto’s Molson Canadian Amphitheatre on Aug. 5. Along with a headlining set from the “Take Care” rapper, the festival will feature performances from The WeekndA$AP Rocky and 2 Chainz. As Drizzy puts it, it will be a “special night we’ve created for the greatest city…Toronto.”

The Weeknd, who collaborated with Drake on four songs from sophomore album “Take Care,” performed at last year’s OVO Fest along with Drake and Rick Ross. Def Jam rapper 2 Chainz, whose debut disc “Based on a T.R.U. Story” is due out Aug. 14, and Harlem MC A$AP Rocky have both been featured on different incarnations of Drake’s Club Paradise tour. The OVO Fest was launched in Toronto in 2010, with hip-hop heavyweights like Jay-ZEminem and Young Jeezy all hopping onstage during the inaugural event.

"Bringing together the 3rd Annual OVO Fest is such a milestone for me," says Drake in a statement. "A lot has happened over the last three years — a journey that I’m so grateful for — but it’s always coming home and performing for my hometown that means the most. This year, we’re going to bring it just like we do every year-with high energy and music at its best."

From Odd Future to Dipset's first West Coast performance, this year's Paid Dues festival was nothing short of a grand collision of hip-hop acts, both old and new. The NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, Calif. played host to the day-long annual Guerilla Union festival attended by thousands of loyal fans, braving the sweltering heat on Saturday (April 8).

Between the three separate stages, the likes of Mac MillerThree 6 MafiaWu-Tang Clan, and more, all shared billings with acts that — under different circumstances — may not have performed alongside each other. “The cool thing is you can have people that came out to see Brother Ali, or came out to see Three 6 [Mafia],” Miller told The Juice. “[They] came out to see all these people, and they know who I am but they wouldn’t really come to a show. So it’s a chance for me to kind show them who I am, why I do what I do, and why I’m here.”

Earlier in the day, Wu-Tang Clan set the bar high with an energizing set, stretching well past their one-hour time limit. The extension was welcomed by the crowd. “I think that’s the great thing about festivals and also it’s great to be here just as a fan of music. When you look at a bill and you se people like Wu-Tang, Three 6 [Mafia], and Kendrick [Lamar’s] here. It’s dope,” Miller said.
