VIDEO: 2013 USC GENERAL COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY SPEECH ENDING - SPEAKER: JIMMY IOVINE

Jimmy Iovine was the guest commencement speaker at the 2013 USC General Commencement. JI introduced Dr. Dre during the ceremony. So what’s the connection between the University of Southern California and these two Moguls? Well, I recently posted about the two donating $70 million to USC to form the Iovine And Young Academy. I salute them both! Check out the video and read up on the previous post. Congrats to the entire Class of 2013! xo @rozOonTheGo

Yes! Dr. Dre + Jimmy Iovine Donate $70 Million!

Dr. Dre and one of my former bosses - Jimmy Iovine gave a ‘gift’ of $70 Million Dollars to USC for Arts Academy. With the funds the University of Southern California are set to establish a four-year undergraduate program for students interested in a mix of arts, visual design, entrepreneurship, computer science and marketing. I’m screaming, why didn’t they have a program like this when I went to college?! We were stuck trying to create this mix by taking ‘Mass Communications’, ‘Business Management’, ‘Marketing’ and ‘Computer Science’. That was my case anyways.

So, you kids are very lucky! If your a creative looking to work in Entertainment then you know just how important this is! I’m going to speak to the guys about being a professor! I’m qualified! The 'Iovine and Young Academy' will focus on four core subjects: arts and entrepreneurship; technology, design and marketability; concept and business platforms and creating prototype.

"The vision and generosity of Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young will profoundly influence the way all of us perceive and experience artistic media," university President C. L. Max Nikias said. "USC provides an extraordinarily rich academic, research and artistic environment. We are committed to encouraging our students to use their intellectual and creative resources to effect change in all segments of society. Our goal is to ensure that the academy is the most collaborative educational program in the world."

I salute these two gentlemen and it doesn’t surprise me at all. Having worked near them and sat in meetings with J.I. I know that this is something that they did from the heart and with great intentions.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: IN DA CLUB - 50 CENT

In honor of the 10th Anniversary for 50’s debut album 'GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN'! I’m still amazed that it’s been 10 years! I was blessed to work with Curtis at the beginning of his career, when it’s most important! From working his records ‘Ya Life’s On The Line’ & ‘How To Rob’ (amongst others) at radio & nights in the studio; It was inspiring to see this ‘street guy’ going against the odds & still come out winning! Smart guy, making smart moves; still! ‘In Da Club’ earned the #1 spot on Billboard’s 2003’s singles and album of the year. It’s a classic album that was released on Aftermath/Shady/Interscope Records on February 6, 2003. The production was epic with credits from Dr. Dre and Eminem. Debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart selling a staggering 872,000 copies in it’s first week! If you don’t have this album and you claim to ‘love rap music’ something’s wrong! Love is love! xo @rozOonTheGo

VIDEO OF THE DAY: F*CK WIT DR. DRE - DR. DRE + SNOOP DOGG

'THE CHRONIC' is 20 years old today! Wow! Salute to Dr. Dre for crafting such a classic album that we still bob our heads to today! Andre ‘Dre Dre’ Young having split from N.W.A. released this great effort and spawned praise for his production and lyrical skills. The Chronic was released on December 15, 1992 and has sold of 5.6 million copies! ‘The Chronic’ is one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time and that statement can not be disputed! That ‘G-Funk’ music introduced west coast artists: Kurupt, Daz, Lady of Rage, Nate Dogg and LBC’s Snoop Dogg to the suburbs and the rest as you can see is history! Dr. Dre is a genius in my eyes and he’s well-respected in the Music Industry as not only a rapper but as an extremely talented producer who’s helped launch the careers of Kendrick Lamar, The Game, 50 Cent, Eminem and Snoop. Some of you who read my blog weren’t even born when this album dropped but get familiar! You’ll be glad you did! xo @RozOonTheGo

Dr. Dre Tops Forbes’ 2012 Highest-Paid Musicians List!

Dr. Dre has finished a 12-month period of robust headphone sales and resurrecting Tupac Shakur in hologram form as Forbes’ highest-paid musician of the year. The hip-hop mogul reportedly earned an estimated $110 million during a scoring period that ran from May 2011 to May 2012.

Along with catalog sales and payment for performances like his headlining set with Snoop Dogg at the Coachella fest, Dre hauled in $100 million pre-tax when HTC bought a 51 percent stake in his Beats headphone company last year, according to Forbes. Dr. Dre takes the annual money crown from U2, who topped last year’s list with $195 million earned, thanks to their record-shattering 360 tour. This year, the veteran rockers slip to No. 4, with $78 million hauled in over the 12-month period.

Check out Billboard.com to see what other Musicians made the list! Congratulations to you all! xo @RozOonTheGo

KENDRICK LAMAR Before The Release: PitchFork

I just came across the below interview on Pitchfork’s website. I felt like I knew the kid K. Dot a LOT more afterwards. Check it out and see more here! xo @RozOonThego

Pitchfork: You recently faced a backlash after saying that you don’t vote because there’s something else out there pushing the buttons.” How did you interpret that whole situation?

Kendrick Lamar: I’m a person of my own opinions, that’s how I was raised. I speak what I feel. The world is bigger than us, and I’m the only person that said that. A lot of people feel the same way but they’re scared to talk. They’re really scared of the truth— they only want half of the truth. I’ve been living like that— forever in fear— but I know what to say and how to say it now. I ain’t scared of myself. Y’all may be scared; I’m not scared.

Kendrick Lamar: The Story Behind ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city’: Billboard

It’s a Tuesday evening in early October and Kendrick Lamar just dozed off in the back of a black mini coach. He’s got a black Top Dawg Entertainment hooded sweatshirt pulled low over his eyes as the inexplicable in-car entertainment, a live recording of the Blue Man Group, dances across a screen at the front of the cab. Midtown Manhattan is gridlock. In the rearview is 30 Rockefeller Plaza, where Lamar just marked his first network TV appearance, taping a performance of his single “Swimming Pools (Drank)” for “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.” Ahead is a meet-and-greet at the Soho Apple Store, where he’ll participate in an onstage Q&A with AllHipHop.com founder Chuck Creekmur and do another performance of “Swimming Pools” to promote pre—orders of his highly anticipated TDE/Aftermath/Interscope debut, “good kid, m.A.A.d city,” which went live the night before and immediately shot the project to the top of iTunes’ hip-hop/rap chart. In between: van chatter, the Blue Man Group or a few minutes to steal a few Z’s. Can you blame him for choosing door No. 3?
