In ‘GLEE’ Season 4 News: LADY GAGA, BRITNEY SPEARS + MORE!

With “Glee” returning next week, the Fox dramedy offered loyal fans a first listen to the music from its fourth season premiere via Facebook on Wednesday. In addition to the previously reported cover of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe,” the “Glee” gang will take on songs by Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Bieber and Britney Spears, among others.

The so-called Glee Listening Party, hosted by Kevin McHale (Artie) and Darren Criss (Blaine) offered a look at five songs from the first two episodes.

In the premiere, Kate Hudson will take on a mashup of Lady Gaga’s “Americano” and Jennifer Lopez’s “Dance Again.” “It works really well, it’s fun,” Hudson, who plays Rachel’s tough NYADA dance teacher Cassandra July, says of the track. “It’s got fun and levity and you see a different side of her. … This character actually has some depth.”

RIHANNA + DRAKE Lead the MTV Video Awards Nominations!

The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards nominations are out, and Rihanna and Drake are leading the pack with five nods each. Last year’s big winner Katy Perry isn’t far behind, with four nominations.

Rihanna has two chances to win for Video of the Year: she’s nominated both for her hit “We Found Love” and for her duet with Drake, “Take Care.” Others in the category include Katy Perry, who took home the top prize “Firework” last year and is up this year for “Wide Awake”; Gotye for his Hot 100 champ “Somebody That I Used To Know”; and M.I.A. for her comeback single “Bad Girls.”

Another stacked category is the Best New Artist showdown, which features a pair of boy bands (One Direction and The Wanted), two Hot 100 toppers (fun. and Carly Rae Jepsen), and R&B It guy Frank Ocean, whose Odd Future compatriot, Tyler, The Creator, took the prize last year. Ocean’s “Swim Good” will compete with Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend,” Drake’s ‘Take Care,” Chris Brown’s “Turn Up The Music” and Usher’s “Climax” in the R&B-heavy Best Male Video category (and yes, Drizzy and Breezy will square off in that one once again).

CARLY RAE JEPSEN: The Billboard Cover Story

"Pretty much every day, there’s a moment where I’m having to pinch myself and think, ‘When did this happen to my life?’" she says. "What I really love about music is that, despite all this craziness the creative process remains the same. And that same exciting feeling that I had before anybody knew me, when I was just beginning to work on ‘Call Me Maybe,’ is the same feeling I had today with RedFoo from LMFAO. You can sense the people who really have it are about writing that right word or that right melody to make it lift and make you feel that perfect emotion."

BILLBOARD Weekly Charts: Usher, Bieber, LMFAO, GroupLove:

This week, Usher enters atop the Billboard 200 and R&B/Hip-Hop Albums with “Looking 4 Myself” and logs a 10th week at No. 1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with “Climax.”

Usher, famously, was instrumental in launching the career of Justin Bieber. After Scooter Braun became Bieber’s manager, he invited Bieber to sing for Usher. The result? The then-13-year-old Bieber joined Usher and Braun’s Raymond Braun Media Group and began his rapid ascent to pop culture prominence. Currently in the Billboard Hot 100's top 10 for a 12th week with former No. 2 hit “Boyfriend,” Bieber is set to make the year's splashiest bow on next week’s Billboard 200 with his third studio album, “Believe.”

Now, Bieber can take partial credit for the No. 1 song on the Hot 100. His viral video of Carly Rae Jepsen's “Call Me Maybe” - co-starring Selena Gomez and Ashley Tisdale, the clip has racked more than 43 million YouTube views - and an endorsement of the song to his more than 20 million Twitter followers helped propel the song up the chart and on its way to No. 1.
