The MISSY ELLIOTT + TIMBALAND ‘MOVEMENT’:

Missy Elliott and Timbaland will both launch new albums this summer, Timbaland told MTV News.

"Me and Missy are both coming out with our albums at the same time, and it will be in June," he said. "Right now, we’re just preparing to get both our videos, our first singles shot at the same time. We want to do it as a movement."

While Timbaland has stayed prominent in recent years with solo efforts such as “Shock Value II,” Elliott hasn’t released an album since 2005’s “The Cookbook.”

In the interim, she revealed that she’d been diagnosed with Graves’ disease, an autoimmune disorder.

"I’m 30 pounds lighter because I’ve been exercising." the MC told People last year. "My thyroid is functioning, so I haven’t had to take medication in about nine months. [But] you live with it for the rest of your life."

The dual album release is the latest collaboration in the duo’s lengthy musical relationship, which has spawned such hits as “Get Ur Freak On” and Aaliyah’s “I Care 4 U.”

"People always ask if we’re still working together, and the answer is we will always work together," Elliott told Billboard in a previous interview about the new album, then titled “Block Party.” “He’s always going to be involved, even if it is just on one record. That’s my brother. I respect and honor what he says.”

'THE VOICE' Kicked Off Post-Super Bowl:

Via Billboard.com

The second season of “The Voice” launched Sunday with the promise of making dream’s come true just as they had moments earlier for the New York football Giants. The hour-long show filled the bulk of its time with exemplary auditions, bickering judges hoping to land contestants and tales of woe — homelessness, cancer, dead-end careers.

What they hinted at, but did not fully come clean about, was the extensive experience of the singers trying out for the teams of Christina AguileraCee-Lo GreenAdam Levine and Blake Shelton.

Chris Mann was an “opera singer” on Sunday, while no mention was made of his stint as one of the Warblers on “Glee.” Tony Lucca, 35 and accompanied by his wife and child, was in the Mickey Mouse Club with Aguilera. He got in a van after the show ended and has since tried to make it as a touring artist; his seven albums and two EPs were not mentioned. Jesse Campbell is a divorced father who said on the show his singing is done mostly in churches; he is also a former solo artist whose version of “Where is the Love” was on the “Dead Presidents” soundtrack.

JUSTIN BIEBER taps LIL WAYNE For New Album:

Via @billboarddotcom

First it was Ludacris on “Baby.” Then Kanye West remixed his “My World 2.0” track “Runaway Love” with Raekwon. Then, just when we thought he wasn’t going to ask Busta Rhymes to be on his version of “Little Drummer Boy,” he did just that. Now, pop superstar and "Otis" freestylerJustin Bieber is turning his collaborative efforts toward another star rapper: Lil Wayne

Bieber, who is working hard on a forthcoming full-length titled “Believe,” posted on Twitter on Wednesday (Feb. 1) that he had shared some studio time with the Cash Money superstar: “Good time in the studio last night. back at it tonight. oh yeah…and big bro came thru… and when i say big bro i mean @LilTunechi. #BELIEVE IT.” He also posted a pair of photos of Wayne and himself kicking it at a skate park — the black-and-white shots either depict Mr. Carter giving the Biebs some fatherly music advice, or teaching the youngster how to do a kickflip.

Last month, Bieber announced on Twitter that he had started recording “Believe,” which follows “Under The Mistletoe,” a full-length Christmas effort that gave the teen star his third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 last November. Over the past week, Bieber has also worked with songwriter Sean Garrett ( UsherChris Brown) as well as Timbaland, who helped craft a classic album from another teen pop titan: Justin Timberlake's “FutureSex/Lovesounds,” in 2006.

In TREY SONGZ NEWS: (Yes!)

Before he embarks on his Anticipation 2our headlining trek next month,Trey Songz hopes to put the finishing touches on “Chapter V,” the full-length follow-up to 2010’s “Passion, Pain & Pleasure.”

"I’m finishing the album now, actually," the R&B author of hits like "Bottoms Up" and "Say Aah" tells Billboard.com. "I’m currently in Miami, and I have one more week until [tour] rehearsals, so that’s when I switch to full ‘tour mode’. The tour’s been very prevalent in my mind, but the record and making sure the album’s complete have been on my mind as well."

Songz started work on “Chapter V” last June and hunkered down in the studio over the past month and a half to focus on his fifth studio album. The singer does not have a time frame for the album’s release, but believes that the finished disc will offer a change of pace.

"I’m definitely trying to leap forward with every album, and with this album, I think it’s a leap forward and a leap into the past," says Songz, who also released a new EP, "Inevitable," last year. "I want to embody in this album — this fifth album, which is very monumental for me — what I am, where I came from and where I’m going. I… just think it’s going to be very fluent, very diverse yet very cohesive album."

Trial Set for Man Accused in J-Huds Family Slayings:

A judge on Thursday ordered a man charged in the 2008 Chicago slayings of Jennifer Hudson's mother and two other family members to stand trial in April, despite the objections of his attorney, who said she was not ready.

After listening to William Balfour’s attorney say she’s still building her case, a clearly exasperated Judge William Charles Burns said it didn’t appear she was making any progress and set a date.

Burns, who suggested he wanted to start the trial next month, instead ordered jury selection to start April 9 and testimony to begin April 23. He said he expected the trial to last about three or four weeks.

Amy Thompson, a deputy public defender, said despite working 12 to 14 hours a day on the case, she could not answer that she was ready for trial, as prosecutors had done.

"We’re not prepared for trial at this time," she said.

Balfour, 30, is the estranged husband of Hudson’s sister, Julia Hudson. He is charged with first-degree murder in the October 2008 slayings of the Hudson sisters’ mother, Darnell Donerson, their brother, Jason Hudson, and Julia Hudson’s 7-year-old son, Julian King.

In NICKI MINAJ News:

"New Album Date: April 3rd. Pink Friday: ROMAN RELOADED. But have no fear. Tons of suprises before then ;). Love Always, HB,” Nicki tweeted.

One surprise is what Nicki Minaj has in store for this year’s Super Bowl game. With Madonna scheduled to perform at the game, word on the ‘net is that Minaj will share center stage with the legend. Perhaps even share a “romantic” kiss — as the one they shared while on the video set for Madonna’s “Give Me All of Your Love.”

While the Barbies await for the release of the follow-up to “Pink Friday,” Minaj stays dominating the Billboard charts. The rapstress is featured on three songs on the R&B/hip-Hop Songs top ten, one being Drake's “Make Me Proud,” at No. 2.

R.I.P. to The Legendary blues singer ETTA JAMES:

Etta James, the singer who turned “At Last” into a multi-generational standard and was an acknowledged influence on singers from Janis Joplin to Melissa Etheridge and Christina Aguilera, is gone not long after her voice was quieted.

James, who was 73, died on Friday (Jan. 20) in Riverside, Calif., after a long period of declining health, including kidney failure, leukemia and dementia. The singer has been hospitalized since mid-December, and on Dec. 23 her longtime manager Lupe De-Leon announced she was placed on a respirator.

James has been inactive since early 2010, when it was announced she was suffering with Alzheimer’s disease. She announced that she was formally retiring from music just before the Oct. 25 release of her final studio album, “The Dreamer;” in a statement James said that, “I wish to thank all my fans who have shown me love and support over all these years. I love you all.”
