SPORTS NEWS: TIM TEBOW SIGNS WITH NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

The Internets went nuts yesterday when the ‘rumor’ began circulating and it got even crazier when the news was confirmed. Personally, I’m interested to see how Tebow’s style will mesh with the Patriots! First, we’ll have to find out what position he’ll be playing!

The terms of his contract were not disclosed, but ‘league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that Tebow signed a two-year contract that includes no guaranteed money.’ Huh?

“Tim is a talented player, is smart and works hard. We’ll see how it goes,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Tuesday.

Tebow will be wearing Jersey No. 5 during minicamp, according to the latest roster. He’s worn No. 15 in the past. I’m wondering if those 15’s will begin to sell-out? At the moment, it’s not clear what position he’ll play. Belichick put it simply, ‘we will see.’ Well, I guess! Bring on Kick-Off please!

RAVENS At The White House! Obama Congratulates!

On Wednesday, President Barack Obama welcomed the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens to the White House.

He congratulated the players and praised the team for the the goal-line stand that closed the deal for their Super Bowl trophy and for their charitable work in blue collar Baltimore. He singled out QB Joe Flacco for winning the Super Bowl most valuable player award and a long touchdown pass in a playoff game in Denver. All of which helped him earn a $100 million-plus contract in the off-season! “Good timing with that contract up,” Obama said.

In the above picture, he’s shaking the hand of linebacker Ray Lewis, who he cited for returning from injury to lead the defense in the playoffs.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh gave Barack, the 44th president, the traditional team jersey emblazoned “MR PRESIDENT” with No. 44. Ha!

NBA Fines LeBron James, Lance Stephenson & David West For Flopping.

It was announced today (Thursday) that the NBA issued 3 fines for violating its anti-flopping rules during Game-4 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Who are the violators? LeBron James, Lance Stephenson and David West. The video above shows where West and James collaborated on the rare double flop during Game 4. As for Stephenson, he was caught for his flop after a run-in with Ray Allen.

So what’s the penalty for all three guys? A smooth $5,000. Hopefully there won’t be any offenders during Game 5 tonight at 8:30ET; check your local listings!

NFL DRAFT Moved to May in 2014:

I’m okay with this. When it’s held in April, it’s like the wait is even longer for the Season to start! You’re hyped up during the full days of drafting and draft coverage, then we’re left to wait months for kick-off! I mean, May isn’t a huge difference, but at lest it lessens the wait.

On Tuesday, the league officially announced that the 2014 edition will be held May 8-10 at Radio City Music Hall due to a conflict of scheduling. The venue will be in use in April as they’ll be hosting an Easter show that conflicts with the NFL’s normal window for the draft.

The last time the entire draft took place in May was 1984!

Ok, now bring on KICKOFF 2013!

GENO SMITH Is Rocking W/ROC NATION SPORTS!

In a previous post Geno Smith had released his representation and wasn’t in a rush to find a new agent. The internets had gone crazy when news broke that the NY Jets rookie QB had met with Jay-Z. Well, it appears everything worked out and Smith has joined Roc Nation Sports!

“I think it’s just his agency,” Smith said, according to the New York Daily News. “When you talk about being in New York from a standpoint of what they can do in the city, the connections that they have, I think it’s a good move. My mother and my family were comfortable with it. I’m comfortable with it.”

Smith said the presence of Jay-Z — an iconic hip-hop artist and entrepreneur — played “not that big a role” in his decision. He said being seen as marketable is not important to him.

This kid seems extremely laid back to me. That could be a good or a bad thing. In any case, he is now rocking with Roc Nation and only time will tell where his career is headed with the Roc and the Jets! As for Roc Nation Sports, they appear to be snatching up an impressive roster and stand to be a force to reckon with in the Industry. It’s still early for this newly created venture that’s partnered with CAA Sports; but I’m seeing great things with my 3rd eye.

The Blueprint: GENO SMITH - Rookie With A Plan?

I’ve been following the story of Geno Smith every since the 2013 NFL Draft, that seems like it happened last year, but that’s another story. There was just a lot of hoopla about him not getting picked in the first round. Well, now he’s the New York Jet’s rookie quarterback and he’s on his road to adjusting to the Pro-Football life on and off the field.

The internets went nuts when people got word that the new sports agent Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter had a meeting with the rookie. You see, everyone was wondering if the mogul was about to sign Geno Smith, being that he no longer has representation. He fired his previous agents, Select Sports after a surprising fall in the 2013 NFL Draft. Like many others, I thought that Smith would get picked in the 1st round, but Nah. Geno spoke about his meeting with Jay Thursday afternoon at the Rookie Premiere in Los Angeles.

“Obviously he’s seen as a pop icon, but I’m not starstruck in those instances,” Smith revealed. “We spent some time talking, and that was about it. It’s just about learning. I picked his brain. He’s a good guy.”

Will he join Jay-Z’s Roc Nation? I guess we’ll have to wait and see. He still doesn’t have representation and it’s not his top priority to find one.

“There’s no rush to make a decision,” Smith said. “I’ve interviewed some guys. I’ve got a lot of time. Right now, my main focus is everything I do inside that facility.”

Well, okay. Read more at the source Sbnation.

Soccer Player DAVID BECKHAM’S Bending Days Are Over!

Get it? Bend It Like Beckham .. the movie? Oh forget it! The Soccer star has announced his retirement, which will begin after this season. He started his career in Manchester United, but he is now a global superstar. Time to build off that Brand my man! Beckham has two games left in the season with PSG. During his career he also played for the Los Angeles Galaxy and Real Madrid where he won titles with both clubs. On Friday, he thanked the PSG for “giving him the opportunity to continue but I feel now is the right time to finish my career, playing at the highest level.” That’s right! Go out on a high note!

“If you had told me as a young boy I would have played for and won trophies with my boyhood club Manchester United, proudly captained and played for my country over one hundred times and lined up for some of the biggest clubs in the world, I would have told you it was a fantasy. I’m fortunate to have realized those dreams,” Beckham said.

“I’m honored to represent England both on and off the pitch. … I want to thank all my teammates, the great managers that I had the pleasure of learning from. I also want to thank the fans who have all supported me and given me the strength to succeed.”

TIM TEBOW the most influential athlete?
According to a survey released by Forbes.com on Monday he is. Tim Tebow was released by the New York Jets last week and is now a free agent, but he was selected America’s Most Influential Athlete, so his popularity hasn’t gone anywhere.
“Tebow had the most influence on fans, according to 29% of respondents, finishing ahead of Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps (25%), Jamaican track star Usain Bolt (23%) and Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter (22%).”
The results were gathered by using surveys from Nielsen and E-Poll Market Research to determine the winner. They also took their endorsement potential into account. So, who was the next-closet NFL player? That would be Peyton Manning!
