Move over boring domains such as: .com and .org! Major Brands are applying for new Internet domain name endings. I can’t believe this has just begun! I mean, it makes sense, but clearly it’s an expensive and lengthy process. Having domains such as: .loreal; .chanel; .gucci and .chloe is innovative and will surely increase competition! These companies are not only snatching their Brand Domains, they’re also registering generic domains such as .skin, .hair and .makeup (L’OREAL). Of course, there’ll be a review process to determine who’ll actually receive these generic domain names. Although a great Branding strategy, we can expect the Internet to be overloaded with thousands of new domain names, which means more opportunity for countefeiters to apply to register domains.
