SARAH JESSICA PARKER Hosts A Fundraiser For President OBAMA:

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama appeared at a fundraising event in New York City Thursday – but they certainly weren’t the only VIPs in the room.

Sarah Jessica Parker hosted the event at her Manhattan home, and among the celebrities in attendance were Meryl Streep, Michael Kors, Anna Wintour and Bravo’s Andy Cohen, who was seated across from the First Lady.

President Obama noted that Parker’s husband, Matthew Broderick, was unable to attend because he’s currently starring in Nice Work If You Can Get It on Broadway, and added that the couple had “been great friends.” He also added that Wintour, too, was “working hard in New York and Chicago” on behalf of his re-election efforts.

Parker, a longtime Obama supporter, introduced the President with a hug and a kiss, and called Michelle Obama “radiant and extraordinary.”

During his speech, President Obama noted that “GM is now back on top,” prompting spontaneous applause from Parker and Broderick’s 9-year-old son, James Wilkie

"He wanted to fire up the crowd," President Obama said in response to the boy’s enthusiasm.

"He knows an applause line," Cohen chimed in. "Right on cue!"

The guests sat in two rooms at two long tables decorated with flowers and votives.

Calling the event his and the First Lady’s “date night,” the President said he’s running for a second term “because our work is not yet done.”

At one point, he explained that he comes in fifth or sixth in the “hierarchy in the White House,” behind Michelle, the couple’s two daughters, Sasha and Malia, his mother-in-law, and the family dog, Bo
